INCOME TAX RETURNS (ITRS) MAY NOW BE FILED AT A LOCAL POST OFFICE
Taxpayers will be able to file their income tax returns (ITR) at the local post office’s Common Services Centres (CSC) counters, which will make the process easier. In this respect, the India Post has already issued a statement, which is a significant relief for lakhs of salaried income taxpayers across the country.
From its official Twitter account, the India Post announced the move, saying, “There’s no need to travel far to file your tax returns now. Income tax return services are available at your local post office CSC counter.” CSC counters around the country serve as a single point of access for Indians seeking different financial services like postal, banking, and insurance. These Post Office CSC counters also provide access to a variety of other government perks and information. Apart from that, the Government of India (GoI) offers a variety of e-services to Indian citizens under the Digital India initiative.
THE ROSCTL PLAN FOR TEXTILE EXPORTERS HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY THE CABINET UNTIL MARCH 2024
The Union Cabinet extended the Rebate of State and Central Levies and Taxes (RoSCTL) scheme until March 2024 on Wednesday, in a move aimed at assisting textile exporters. The Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) program will not help the sectors covered by this scheme, namely apparel/garments and cosmetics. Textile items that are not covered by the RoSCTL, on the other hand, maybe eligible for benefits under the RoDTEP plan.
Exporters are given a duty credit scrip for the value of embedded taxes and levies in their exported items under the RoSCTL scheme. This scrip can be used by exporters to pay taxes on imported equipment and machinery.
