Clarification on how CSR funds are used to construct makeshift hospitals.

Spending CSR funds for COVID-19 is an eligible CSR operation, according to this Ministry’s General Circular No. 10/2020 dated 23.03.2020. The funds will also be used to set up makeshift clinics and COVID Care centers. 

Companies may engage in the above activities in coordination with state governments, provided that they comply with the Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014, and any CSR circulars issued by the Ministry from time to time.

Covid vaccination and oxygen are excluded from basic customs duties.

Goods of the description specified in column (3) of the Table in the notification that falls under the Chapter heading are excluded from the duty of some health cesses and customs under section 141 of the Finance Act, 2020. The Central Government launched the bill to make it possible to import such commodities into India. It was created under the Customs Regulations Act of 1962, Section 25. This notice will be in effect until the 31st of July, 2021.

Notification No. 28/2021-Customs dated April 24, 2021, released exempting Customs duty on medical grade oxygen, oxygen-based equipment, and COVID-19 vaccines until July 31, 2021, in accordance with decisions taken in a high-level meeting addressed by Hon’ble PM.
