What is NICE Classification for Trademark Registration?

The NICE Classification is established by the NICE agreement 1957 is an international classification of goods and services applied for the registration of trademarks. A new edition is published every year. 

India acceded to this Agreement on September 7, 2019, and accordingly, the current version of the Nice Classification is used by the Indian trademark office for the purpose of classification of goods and services while examining a trademark application in India.

What are the consequences if the right class is not mentioned in the trademark application?

In Classification of trademark, if the right class is not mentioned in the application then you may receive the notice of objection to correct your application by paying an application fee for the correction within the specified period of time. 

List of goods and services under Nice classification

Under Nice classification, there are 45 classes in which 1 to 34 categories are related to goods or products, and classes 35 to 45 categories are related to services. These classes are divided into broad heading known as “Class Header” which gives the explanation of the type of goods or services included in the class. The list is as follows:
