THE DELHI GOVERNMENT HAS INCREASED THE MINIMUM WAGES FOR WORKERS

The Delhi government increased workers’ minimum wages by almost 3%. The monthly pay of unskilled laborers has been increased from Rs 16,064 to Rs 16,506 per month due to the rise in dearness allowance (DA). Semi-skilled laborers’ wages have also been hiked by Rs 494, bringing them to Rs 18,187 per month. Wages for skilled workers have been raised from Rs 19,473 to Rs 20,019 per month. These measures were adopted to help the poor and working-class, who have suffered a lot from the pandemic. Those in clerical and supervisory positions will also benefit from this order. In addition, the government has changed the minimum wage rates for supervisory and clerical employees. Non-matriculated employees’ minimum wage has been raised from Rs 17,693 to Rs 18,187, while matriculated employees’ minimum wage has been raised from Rs 19,473 to Rs 20,019. The monthly remuneration for graduates and those with higher educational levels has increased from Rs 21,184 to Rs 21,756.
