THE VALIDITY OF THE NOC FOR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BOTTLED IN ORIGIN AND IN BULK HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY THE FSSAI

The central board of indirect taxes and customs (CBIC), has issued an advisory regarding permissions to disassociate stocks within the validity period of the FSSAI No Objection Certificate (NOC). Customs authorities have banned the movement of goods where the validity of the NOC has exceeded the defined timeline of 30 days since 1 september 2021.

The food safety and standards authority of India issued directives on the extension of the validity of the NOC for alcoholic beverages bottled in origin and in bulk. The NOC issued under the FSS (Import) Regulations, 2017 would have a validity of 300 days for imported consignments of alcoholic drinks bottled in origin and in bulk that contain more than 10% alcohol and do not have an expiry date. Visual inspection for revalidation of NOC may be carried out for consignments that have been at ports/customs for more than 300 days on payment of a visual inspection fee.
